Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia, Liew Chin Tong Visits Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration

On April 25, 2024, Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia, visited the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center and the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, abbreviated as "SCIA"), where he met with SCIA President Dr. Liu Xiao Chun. Both parties exchanged views on the role of international arbitration in the economic and trade relations between China and Malaysia, as well as the international corporate governance mechanism and international arbitrator structure established by the Ordinance on Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. They jointly reviewed mechanisms and cases involving investment arbitration, commercial arbitration, and commercial mediation between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Liu Zhen Dong expressed his hope to further strengthen communication and cooperation to stabilize the expectations of enterprises from both countries regarding the business environment, thereby better serving the trade and investment between China and Malaysia. Malaysia is China’s second-largest trade partner in ASEAN. As of 2023, China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years and is also the largest source of imports and the largest export destination. Other officials of Malaysia participated in the exchange.
