    SCIA Smart Arbitration System Shines at 2024 ICCA Congress in Hong Kong

    The XXVIth Congress of International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA 2024), supported by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and the South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong) (SCIAHK), as Diamond Sponsors, was held in Hong Kong SAR from May 5 to 8, 2024.

    The congress, themed “International Arbitration: A Human Endeavor”, featured over 80 speakers from various legal jurisdictions discussing a range of related topics.

    During the thematic discussion on the application of artificial intelligence in international arbitration on May 8, 2024, several industry experts delivered keynote speeches and discussed the impact of AI on arbitration.

    Winnie Tam, SBS, SC, JP Former Chairwoman of the Hong Kong Bar Association, Arbitrator of the SCIA and SCIAHK, and Expert Member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Arbitration Center, provided a comprehensive introduction to SCIA’s smart arbitration initiatives.

    She showcased significant achievements of SCIA’s online arbitration service platform via video, including the use of a “Cloud Arbitration System” featuring modules for online case filing, virtual hearings, electronic submission and delivery of documents, automated generation of award templates, and electronic signatures for arbitrators.

    These advancements highlight the latest achievements in utilizing information technology to enhance the arbitration experience for both Chinese and international parties and arbitrators.

    Tam’s presentation and the innovative outcomes of SCIA’s online arbitration service platform received widespread attention and acclaim from the attendees.
